Unless you only want to make 2-3 dollars a sale, drop shippers is not the way to go. The problem with drop shipping is the dropshipper is making all the profit. The second you put up something on ebay from a drop shipper, ten other people will find it. They will continue to undercut untill no one is making money. Also the extended shipping times with most dropshippers tends to !@#$ off ebay'rs. Dropshipping is not the get rich overnight dream that's it's presented to be, sorry. Try wholesalers with small orders that give you voulme discounts.

Yes. Stay away from selling on aby if you are going to use a well-known dropshipper. You will make no money at all.

That said, I have a list of dropshippers I have dealt with in the past that will surely run you out of business because both their products and there service are terrible. This is a no no. You can't make money with a dropshipper that is not going to give you good customer service.

You can PM me for a list of bad dropshippers.

But isn't it the droppshiper sell the item in wholesale's price. But i find that they usually sell like retail price. In my theory, retail price > ebay price> wholesale price > manufacture price. But the dropship price sometimes higher than the retail price.

    In regards to electronics dropshippers:

If you happen to come across them, stay as far away as possible from D&H Distributing.

Average discount rate off of MSRP is about 10-15% @ D&H. You will be throwing your money away on listing fees if you are forced to sell a product at 5-10% off of MSRP because no one will buy it, and even if it does sell, the listing fee, FVF, and possible PayPal fees will wittle your profits down to "can barely buy a can of soda" levels. Not worth it.

Just my $0.02. Best of luck.

D&H is a great distributor and one of the biggest n the nation for thier items. They suck for dropshipping (as far as price) but if you have cash and want to buy your inventory outright, they give significant discounts. This is the way electronics wholesale works. Flash the cash and your price drops considerably. Oh, just to clarify, when I say cach, I mean cash. Credit cards don't cut it usually. Cashier's checks are golden, however.

Additionally their net-terms are advantageous though difficult to get without some extensive trade references.

    Creepyjon,

Actually, dropship distribution partnerships can, in fact, work. The trick is focusing on the right product segment.

For example: car audio electronics and computer technology. Should these be promoted by someone on eBay while expecting to realize a profit while dropshipping? In most cases.....NO.

However, here is another example: home furnishings and decor; watches and jewelry; tools; collectibles. In this case, if the auction seller knows market demand and where to price the items, you'd be amazed at how much merchandise can be moved.

The only TRUE way to sell consumer electronics and technology is by working with a dropship distribution company that either A)works with manufacturers directly and/or B)has liquidation partners.

Believe it or not, there is a dropship distribution company that provides both liquidation and and unique, niche merchandise.

Without shamelessly promoting their name, it's pretty simple to find them in the Yahoo! search engine: just type "dropship supplier."

    Voila! Case closed.

    Thx,

    HA HA HA
    HO HO HO

ME, dropship, no thanks. Espically on car audio, I buy that stuff dirt cheap from a place thats not online and only sells to us with tax ids. Belive me they are really good and most people on ebay are most likely getting their stuff from them. And what's cool is the catalog is so huge that everyone isn't selling the same items. Like those junk maxam knives!

    Good luck to ya.

Regarding those knives, you'd be suprised. One of them is our top-selling product.

I'm sure it is, that's not the point. EVERYONE has them, and all these idiots on ebay are selling them for pennies. I won't touch anything with such a pathetic margin. At flea markets they are good price and value, but that's the only place you can move those. But you still have the problem that everyone has them!

Well, yes, many of our items are very popular among eBayers. However, we have thousands of other items, and many of these are still pretty original on the market, and we add new items daily. We try to keep as many different products on hand as possible, because not everyone wants to sell the same things, but as you pointed out, some do. We want to cater to both. We stock everything from those knives, to Airsoft guns, to digital camcorders. We have something for everyone.

I have to agree with moonlitsun. There is money to be made drop shipping, but it's not nearly as easy as it was even a year ago. You need to research, research, research!

The ebay market is virtually DEAD for drop shipping. There's just too much competition. If you really want to get started in drop shipping, you need to find the right products AND start your own ecommerce store using the search engines to your advantage. That sounds easy, but it's not. Getting top placement in search engines can be a difficult task especially if the keyword area you are trying to bust into is crowded however the rewards can be considerable. I know first hand because I work in these areas of the internet. I've helped develop a ecommerce product that allows users to optimize static HTML pages for seach engines.

Yes, the RIGHT sofware makes a HUGE difference in how search engines see your pages, index your pages and rank your pages. Example of the wrong software? Miva. Can you get listed? Yes. Can you get ranked? No. Granted, this is not the holy grail to getting listed but it helps tremendously. Make no mistake, you will likely need to utilize other search engines techniques to get a comfortable listing that generates traffic and sales. To be perfectly honest, 9.95 or 15.95 ecommerce hosting (which I see all over the net) is a huge waste of time. There is no free lunch here. You'll have to pay to play.

Here's the criteria I've been looking to begin my ecommerce site with:

    1) A product that has global appeal but not saturated on the net
    2) A reliable wholesaler with good customer service AND most importantly, a CSV file of their products that I can use to import into my ecommerce product. I don't have time to manutally type in 5000 products.

I got some good initial research on a product but having trouble finding a wholesaler that drop ships. Granted, I've found a few. I talked to one who emailed me his CSV database. It was a disaster. Completely unorganized. I spent two hours massaging the data. I managed to get it imported but it was so haph-hazard (poor product descriptions, crappy pictures) I decided against going live with his products.

Remember, there is no wham-bam-thank-you-maam solution. You'll need to do your homework and find the right product(s) and the least expensive way to promote yourself on the net.
