Here is the deal. MyFashionGuru is in some round about way tryng to help newbies, but of course, they are doing it for some personal gain as well.

Their site is full of info and links that my lead you to do things like spend money on a product or service they promote (like domain registration). They make money for doing that. THey either own the doamin reg company themselves or they are resellers. Either way they get money for the sale or some measurable, valuable kickback from it.

All in all, some of their posts are not so spammy, but this one is the kind that really borders on forum spamming and really calls any integrity they might have itno question.

    You decide.

Basically as a rule, good forum ettiquette and proper internet marketing procedures dictate that you should let your signature line do the advertising.

If you blatently post a reply with a URL for a service (or especially if you make a new post like myfashionguru did here) just to advertise your service, that is no doubt spam and on most forums, these posts get deleted and the user gets booted from the forum after 3 strikes.

This is not the first time myfashionguru made this faux pas, and it certainly won't be the last unles the moderators here ben myfashionguru's IP address altogether.

My suggestion to myfashionguru is to brush up on forum etiquteet, brush up on guerilla internet marketing tactics or risk losing the privilage altogether. It is bound to happen someday.

Besides, doing things the right way only ads to your integrity.

For instance, if you would just post helpful answers with no reference to your site in th post and then just have a signature line that states "$4.99 web hosting" and then your URL, that looks much less intrusive and the likely hood of making a sales as a result of forum exposure is much greater than if you spam.

The problem is, internet marketers get too excited and greedy and that leads them to spamming the forums. In the long run, this method does not work.

Besides, most people (at least the ones that have the money to spend for a long term) see right through these tactics.

Human nature and the study Economics have taught us that people are intrinsically “self-interested”.
The internet has made markets even more competitive. just a like a natural selection process, where the ones who adapt to the new environment are ones that survive. Information is power and a key tool for survival. However I just happened to meet the exception to the natural selection process, I have found an “altruistic businessman”.

It’s true. There is plenty of people that try to advertise for free in forums, but when somebody attempts to make his/her money from inexperienced, disoriented, and enthusiastic people , it really pisses me off.

Somebody is got to do something !!

even if did start reselling hosting services or getting newbies to buy my stuff I wouldn't do it here.

    why not ?

because there are special sections on this website to do so.
Besides it doesn’t look professional or appropriate to Spam a forum which has the goal of helping people.

But see that is where you are wrong.

Ther is nothing wrong with haveing a signature line with your URL and a catch phrase. That is good internet marketing and forum etiquette.

It is when you come out and post a reply that just screams BUY FROM ME that it gets out of hand and becomes downright rude.
