I started our site with a html front and linked to a free shopping cart system. It's really cumbersome to buy off of. Can anyone suggest a good cart system for wholesale? I'm currently looking at Miva merchant and powershopper.

I've spent several months looking for an "off-the-shelf" cart solution which can be used the way that **we** do business. Each has some limitation and **all** will have a learning curve. I've looked at Interchange, OSCommerce, Agora, CommerceSQL and some others. I don't think that it's possible to make a decision based on the application description so I have installed each one to test drive.

Bids for custom work started at US$10K. One company offered to write the RFQ (project documentation) for us for US$7500. We finally have settled on a "customized" solution which will be based on open source.

I'm in the process of configuring OSCommerce myself. Once you actually track down the documentation, it's really not that hard -- even if you don't have strong PHP or MySQL skills.

When configured and working properly, it is possible the most powerful cart system I've seen. Even if you disagree on the functionality of it, the price is right! (It's free)

Anyone know how to add those PayPal ones? I mean just put it under the image. I would like to know since I will probably use PayPal mostly, to start out with. Or if you know someone that uses PayPal for there cart. Thanks.

Guessing ... - Make a button and for the link put in the request price? Im sure that works, but need to know for sure. THANKS!

    1. Log into your PayPal account
    2. Click on the sell tab - on right hand side is sell on a web page
    3. Click on the "Shopping Cart" link NOT Single items
    4. Download the available PDF's They spell out everything you can and can't do

When you enter the details of what you want to sell, the script simply generates the HTML code to cut and paste into your site, complete with button.

I haven't messed with the new IPN release, but have heard good things about it

    You can't go past OSCommerce.

It is free...but does NOT have the drawbacks of other free systems.
It is feature packed! It is powerful!
If it's "out-of-the-box" functionality is not enough for you, there are HUNDREDSof user made contributions that you can easily add that multiply functionality 100-fold!

It is also already configured to accept Paypal as a payment option, and also Payapl IPN (Instant Payment Notification), plus about a dozen other payment solutions, including check/money order, c2it, Western Union money orders, ipayment, nochex, and others.
It is configured to allow you to choose USPS, UPS, flat rate, table rate, price point rates, etc for shipping options. FedEx can easily be added after installation.

Also, unlike other free shopping cart systems, this solution does have full installation, configuration, editing, and customisation documentation available.

And the backend administration is a breeze with a configurable user interface.

If you don't know php, don;t sweat it. If you need ANY help, there is an oscommerce forum where help is only a "Help me!" away. As for mysql, or phpadmin, your web host should be only too happy to answer any problems you may encounter.

Yes...I am a fan of OSCommerce. (See my site.)

Mongoose Solutions is currently developing an Enterprise Wholesale software solution. This system includes an integrated backend POS with an eCommerce presence and is very extensible.

Mongoose Solutions is currently looking for companies to help develop and beta test this system at a greatly reduced cost.

Please contact me for further information.

Our sister company will be offering a shopping cart solution like no other. This will allow companies with product, to upload their inventory for sale on their own site, plus offer these same products to the network of thousands of other sites.

It will also allow individuals who do not stock their own product to sell all the network products on their site without worrying about uploading, and stock levels.

The cart will be unlimited, and offer easy to change templates (skins), and should be only $19.95/month including hosting.

This will be ready in 2 weeks.

Actually I believe W411 store will kill two birds with one stone. It IS based on OSCommerce. It is a modified OSCommerce, so if you know how to use OSCommerce and like it the W411 store will feel very comfortable...

I actually preferred the software at http://www.bug-mall.org/ - scary name though (bug!). There you can setup a store on entire mall (like W411 shops)...

    Enjoy.

Yes, it is more money but you get what you pay for.
With http://www.abracart.com you can list items from hundreds of vendors having all vendors treated as one. An example would be if you shop from three different locations you can have it appear as it is all coming from one and each vendor has its own markups. Lets say you markup all items from vendor A 10% and all items from vendor B $5.00, the cart automatically does it for you, plus not to mention each cart has three different levels which allows you to run three separate stores in one. You can have a retail section, wholesale section and preferred buyer section all with the automated pricing you select. In other words, your UPS shipping is integrated no matter what zip code you use for each vendor. You can ship from 500 vendors all with different zip codes and it is all added in one cart all with online UPS tracking integration.
Once an order is placed your user is sent a unique userid and password of choice which allows them to log in to their order station showing all orders they have placed and to whom they have shipped all with tracking info.

Let’s say you are a wholesaler that uses 10 different vendors or locations to ship your goods. You would put each vendor in the admin area with the markups you want and or handling charges you want. It enables you to have a member’s area, subscription payments, etc. You simply upload you item list in CSV format and you are up and running. As a wholesaler, I was unable to find a shopping cart in any price range that has the features as mentioned above. I searched high and low for years and tested carts in the price range of $49.99 to $14,999.00 and there is not one cart out there built for the wholesaler. AbraCart was designed with the wholesaler in mind, because I designed it and as a wholesaler I new exactly what I needed.

AmeriCart is a very good shopping cart if you are running a retail shop and ship only from one location, than this would be a good choice.

As a developer, i recommend using cf-ezcart.com. They provide anything i need to build a e-business site in low price. They allow using paypal payment and other credit card process gateway. They also have UPS online tool, allow customer to check the shipping rate. With this feature you can't go wrong. They alway win the cfdj award. it's a award for cold fusion programming.

Try wrote by yourself with coldfusion. I think oscommerce is good idea, but too bad i didn't know before i wrote one for myself. The shopping cart of my site is finish, but the register form and check out form have alot of validation stuff to do. I will use paypal ipn and authorize.net as credit card payment processing. I also integrate my site with UPS shipping rate. Maybe i will add fedex in future if my customer request. Don't know why people spend alot of money on it. I wrote 3 site for my friend for free.

Don't try something like abtracart, americart. It's built by robot. Hard to customize. They design usually bad. It usually a bar on the left hand size, and the cotent on the right size. The header is on the top. Just 3 rectangles stick together. And oscommerce, in my opinion, it's popular because it's php(php is free also, php is outdate web application, mysql is free also) Alot of big company now stick with asp.net, coldfusion, java server. They are standard for e-commerce website. I don't understand what's wholesale cart. Is it same thing as retail cart? What kind of function we need differece with retail? Now i asking for my web hosting company to add the fax cart service for me. Once i received order and everything is authorize, no need to check the email. Just pick up the fax and pass it to my worker. I want them to design a method for my heavy and glass product to not using UPS, FEDEX. But ship by a pallet. They charge me a $100, then i'm not interest anymore. The whole systme is 50 a month. ship by pallet method is 1 time fee, but still expensive.

Miva is an awesome shopping cart. I say this because I use it on http://www.121merchantaccount.com. I can also get it free via a hosting company I use. It's got tons of easy to use features, plus it makes the geeks happy when they want to get tricky. Plus, there are great mods you can buy to upgrade as needed.

If you want it free, visit this url.
