I think it's more being experienced. I have been buying and selling online for many years. Started with a Compuserve account, before there was an AOL. I've never been screwed. There are probably 30 suppliers who keep my plastic number on file and bill me when I fax, or email an order or order online.

But, I don't look for stuff from overseas, I don't mess with electronics or clothing. I don't llok on alibaba (I still remember the story about the 40 thieves.).

And I don't buy secret wholesaler and dropship lists.

If you do any or all of the above, your statement might be right. For me, I have no complaints at all.

    Ditto Pete

I don't pay in advance, and would never use Western Union or a bank transfer. I usually get a discount for paying in 15 days.

    Pete has a good approach.

My first job out of school was corporate banking for a few years. Even working for a major bank and corporate customers you will still have the same issues of fraud, bad firms, etc. either with the corporate clients or with their clients. These are mutil-million dollar firms who still have day to day issues with fraud, scam buyers, etc. It is hard to have a business with no risk.....and harder if your business is ecommerce, but that does not mean you cannot do well.

I think most businessmen don't like to cheat their clients. But it is really a problem to find your trustworthy cooperator.
We can't meet in person on net like real life. So it is hard to realize what the person is telling the true or not. Only through some trial deals can we understand gradually. Yes, this maybe causes extra cost or lost to our business. But there would not have no risk in ecommerce. Best way is to talk on line at first, examining what kind of the other party is, then decide to go on or give up.
I'd like to chat with my clients by MSN online. We can talk every thing about us, understand each other well, not only our business, but character and morals, etc. At last,we can find those who are really trustworthy or rodomontade.
