Hello, I have been selling on Ebay for about four years. I am a small independent retired person selling out of my house. I deal mostly inpottery and glass collectibles but dont limit myself to just that.
In reading some of the posts about how not to get stuck with returns and what type of terms to setup for my buyers I K.I.S.S. (Keep it simple). I don't want anything back after I have sold it. If I am selling collectibles I explicity say no returns on used merchandise. I advise a potential buyer to email with any questions before bidding. Sometimes I get a description wrong and welcome any comments. I only ship USPS Priority mail. It doesnt pay to use first class or parcel post. Using priority mail allows me to print all of my shipping labels online. The post office will pickup your packages thus saving you a trip to the post office. Using the other services which are only pennies cheaper than priority causes you to have to go to the post office and stand in line. I dont like standing in line. I do of course use UPS when the package is large. They too will pickup and yes you can do your postage online. I was beating myself up trying to comply with the buyer. Think about it. If you order something from a department store they tell you how they are going to ship. I also include insurance on all of my packages. I offer it and if the buyer pays for it thats fine but paying the extra $1.40, which you can build into your price, is a peace of mind thing. Beware though!!!!!! Filing a claim with the post office is no picnic. I have a claim running and its an act of congress to get it handled.
Pack good and pack tight. I use a lot of those plastic shopping bags from the grocery store. Recycle!Recycle!

Never ignore an email from potential buyers unless you know they are a spam. We all know what that is these days.
Never ignore your buyer. If they get out of hand report them.
I stopped taking money orders. At first I thought this was a nice convenience for buyers who dont want to purchase online but why are they online if they dont want to ourchase online. Getting a money order only causes me an unnecessary trip to the bank. I am lazy and want everything at my fingertips to run my small business smoothly.
Latly, dont get wordy with your terms and conditons. I had a mentor from Ebay look at my listings and he said not to write a book on why you dont want to sell. Show how to pay, how you are shipping, if you will refund or exchange.
Most importantly dont allienate a potential buyer. Put a smile in your listings :D :D :D
