Hi everyone, I'm so glad to have found this forum.

I'm a semi-experienced affiliate marketer but a rank newbie at dropshipping/wholesale. And of course it's even more important you know what you're doing in this line of work.

I'm just getting my feet wet and using Paypal to let people check out. It's cheesy and I don't like it, but I don't have a good sense of low-cost alternatives yet. Thoughts? Actually since I'm only selling 1-5 dropshipped products right now I may stick with it for a while.

I also wonder how people automate the communications with their customers. Is there some kind of helpful low cost script or interface that's commonly used so you can push a button and send your customer an email that says "your order was received, it's shipping BLAH and should arrive BLAH"?

How are people tracking and storing their orders for future reference/tax season?

Assuming that you're selling on eBay.....

1.) Communication automation can easily be setup using Selling Manager Pro which is a pay per month tool that's offered through eBay. This will allow you to create messages that are automatically sent when payments have been received, items are marked as shipped, etc..

2.) PayPal is the preferred method of payment when using eBay. Some sellers use other payment methods and have little to no trouble but the general buyer on eBay would prefer to use PayPal.

3.) For tracking inventory and sales, Quickbooks can be your best friend. =) It's easy too use and once you've done the initial setup, it's a breeze. You can manage inventory stats, sales by day, week and month and customer info for mailings/newsletters.

Best of luck and hopefully others will offer you some add'l information as well.
