Can someone please tell me what is the best day and time to have an auction end on ebay? Thanks!!

depends on what you sell IMO and what crowd you're catering to. according to that special on MSNBC about ebay, sunday evening is typically the highest traffic time.

You best time to list is going to be when the most people are going to be online. From personal experiance I feel that this is roughly 6-7 pm west cost time. This allows time for more people to be home from work out on the west cost while still allowing it to be early enough for buyers out on the east coast to still be awake. Hope that helps

There have also been studies that more people are browsing the auctions at work or on their lunch break. Since after work many people have lots of activities or commuting to tie into their evening, ebay could be out. During the normal work hours people that work on PC's all day have instant access to ebay auctions.

The Sunday evening listing is always pretty strong. I track hits on my listings and as of late listings that end during Desperate Housewives are 50 percent more likely to end without a bid (for me). And items that have sold 100 percent of the time got fewer hits during American Idol and consequently lower bids.
Needless to say I now incorporate Nielsen ratings and the top 20 shows (things I never gave a hoot about) into my listing strategy.
It is all trial and error. For womens' things I go with a 3 day listing. For things mostly guys would buy I go with a 7 day listing. For big ticket items and items I know are hot I will go 10 days. On vehicles I always opt for the 10 days and try to end them at a time when no major sporting events are taking place (The TV Guide can be your best friend).
I read a book by this guy who was the first to make a million a month on ebay. He recommended doing three day listings around the clock. But I found that some of the things I was selling would not sell in 3 days. And I soon discovered that if you are not selling a million a month this is a bad strategy. And if you are selling a million a month you are still throwing money away.
Best way to get an idea of when and how long is to do a completed listings search. See who sold it, how long it ran, how many bids it got, and most importantly what was the top price paid for it. If an item has like 30 bids it is hot enough to sell as a buy it now for that top price.
By the way the completed listings search is a good way to learn what not to sell or sink your precious capital
into.
Here is the link :

Paste it into your browser after you have signed in to ebay. Then bookmark it. Always remember to check the box marked completed listings. Type in the name or model number and click on "search". Green means sold Red means---not sold. Go for the GREEN.

I tend to find that Sundays (pretty much most of the day after midday) are good. The above tip on closed listings is a great way to cut out speculation on your given product..
