Not in the clothing category but VeRO issues anyway...

    McAfee anything software.

Microsoft if you don't play by their rules. OEM software must have piece of hardware with it. Academic must have the disclaimer and limitation about who to sell to. Anything legit must come wtih the COA, EULA and key etc.

Plenty of companies also if you use their stock photos. Car audio ones especially. The brands that don't want their products sold online.

Abercrombie just veroed 24 of my auctions today because the powers that be decided they were all counterfeit (I can show a paper trail for 90% of them but they don't care).

be careful of selling any brand name items...there are people who sell on ebay and either sell legitimate brand name items or sell items that they themselves believe are legitimate and not only do you jeopardize your ebay account, but the company can (don't think they won't, trust me) come after you outside of ebay even if you are innocently selling items that you yourself believe are authentic, and selling authentics. There are a lot of little twists and turns with it, but I can say that companies will contact you and let you know what you have or have had, when they do they can be nice and ask for information and even if you are nice enough to give them information, they will in turn use it all against you and try to hurt you or turn it around and try to make you own up to something that you are innocent of....don't think that these companies don't come on here either, so please be sure of your merchandise before you sell it on here or ebay because these companies don't just surf ebay. They do lurk around on here!

BTW Philly, I agree with what you said about Lacoste...why is it that they only bothered certain people and harrassed them and then others have flooded the internet with terrible fakes? Also, why is it that they THINK that people are selling fakes? What proof do these companies have when making such judgements without having the product in hand or an actual picture? It's herendous, this is why I am glad I stopped while I was ahead, even though unaware that my items could potentially be "counterfeit" I thought that they were real and had no reason to believe that they weren't, and had many satisfied customers yet they say they know it all...its very very frustrating!

If you will provide a Link to the Cancelled Auction it would be more beneficial. There are brands that are listed which are not vero'd. Many of you report that you know these Ebayer are selling either the same item you were vero'd for.

If you post 100 or more cancelled listings (with photos and titles and descriptions), together we can look for a pattern of the listings that get cancelled.

I do not sell on Ebay but I talk to many Ebayers. Here are some ideas: Your eBay competitors might be the problem (if they are reporting you). Another possibility is the new copyright investigators profit by selling their services to the trademark holders. Often they use search engine robots to pick up certain key words in your ads. By looking at all the cancelled auctions on one list, perhaps it will be easy to find the keywords that flag the robots.

I also think Ebayers should consider banning together to form an alliance to protect your rights - Cyber-Union.

I am not a lawyer, only suggesting ideas on how small businesses can compete fairly.

If a listing is cancelled, it would no longer be in the system. You would just get the invalid item number screen

Exactly how do the VERO members determine if an item is counterfeit without seeing the product? This seems a little off to me.

Pictures for one thing, they look at labels, sizing, tags, colors, trademarks, etc. They send their sofware robots to gather this information off of ebay looking for their product names, etc. They can also vero you if you use a copyrighted picture off their website or a licensed dealer/retailers website that they provide pictures for. I ALWAYS take my own pictures. Its more work but beats the alternative. REMEMBER PICTURES, PICTURES, PICTURES. You can also go to ebays site and do what many others fail to do. READ,READ, READ.

Your info is spot on and MAY help, but the way the current VERO system is administered they need ZERO proof to pull your ad. honus is on the seller to prove innocence. In the cae of R&R, they couldn' care less if your stuff is authentic. They abuse the system to prevent erosion of their markup.

How is it that VIP Fashions Sells so many items without getting vero'd? Does anyone know how this seller and many other powersellers get away with this?

I often wondered how the ebay user: ideastore was able to sell so much and never get vero'd, or caught selling fake clothing.
Well, apparently he was being watched for a long time, and he was arrested Jan 11th, the id is NARU'd.
This guy had over 17,000 feedbacks and was a platinum powerseller.

I also would like to know how some people like the vip fashions sells for what I can buy them for from a boutique and less and they never seem to get veroed. They are several stores that sell all the time things that get VEROed on a regular basis and you never see them getting pulled! i think there is something fishy going on. Not only is R&R and True Religion and 7 vero you but they vero just certain people WHY??

My read on it is that sellers are fingering other sellers (you can do it with absolutely no proof). And once you're VERO'd you get on e-bay's hot list and then they subsequently VERO anything from that namebrand you put out. Or ... and I've thought about this before ... perhaps the bigger ones have (or at one time had) some legit merchandise that they could produce a paper trail from and have used it to convince e-bay and/or R&R (with a court order, as that's what it takes) that they are selloing genuine merchandise? I suppose after that even if I reported one of them they wouldn't get VERO'd. :?:

Because you can't tell the difference unless you are sharp about it. 95% of eBay buyers won't think twice about inspecting the small things like spaces between "RalphLauren" on a necktag or other minute details if there even are any with great "counterfeits". The PowerSellers have the best quality because they've been in the game the longest and through more suppliers.

Plus, 98% of the feedback leaving population is so happy to get their package they leave feedback before they open the damn shirt.

I used to sell info-garbage on eBay and had 98% positive feedback. I couldnt figure out how besides the fact that ppl were not reading what I was sending them. People are dumb, plain and simple.

If you think your RL shirt from Macy's cost more then $10 to produce you're kidding yourself.

PS - 99% of clothing sellers on eBay are selling counterfeit clothing. eBay is a marketplace of people who dive at the chance to buy a fake shirt.

There's really no point in selling a real shirt on eBay when you can realize 200% profit margins on fake ones and do the same business.
