Hi everyone! I have some great news I wanted to share with the community.

Maren Kozbial, owner of R&M Accessories and who some of you may remember attempted to defraud me of over $4000 (ALWAYS use a credit card) and who managed to steal well over $25 000 from people online and off has been arrested.

You can view the arrest record here: http://www.nassauda.org/dawebpage/press ... elease.htm (at the Nassau DA's website)

Maren has allegedtly defrauded more than 17 people the world over and it just goes to show that you will be caught in the end.

My original post about her is on this forum somewhere, if one of the mods can dig it up you will get the whole story.

On a personal note I am extremely relieved she has been caught and I hope the law deals her the maximum it can. She used every lie and excuse in the book including claiming her brother in-law had just been killed in Iraq.... How sick are you when you are claiming that!?? This women caused a lot of people a lot of grief and anguish and I am overjoyed she has been busted.

Let this be a lesson to scammers that it is not a victimless crime, you hurt people, effect their business' and their liveliehoods...I was one of the lucky ones but I can tell you that I will be at Maren's trial, I will be at her sentencing hearing and I will be there when she comes up for parole. You try to screw with me and you will get screwed back 10 times over.

Thanks to everyone on this forum who, last year, helped with suggestions and support. If you have any questions on how to detect a scammer, track one down or what to do if you have been scammed please feel free to email me or post them here.

Now maybe they can get around to getting Steve Weber hauled into court.

I seem to recall that Steve Weber/Synertrade was being investigated by the Feds. It is interesting to note that this is a state prosecution. Being that she defrauded people internationally, I am surprised that there wasn't a federal angle. Maybe that is forthcoming. I am almost certain she violated both state and federal laws.

It is a good feeling to know that people like this eventually do get punished. One of the reasons I choose to deal almost exclusively with suppliers who live here in the U.S. If anything does go wrong, at least I know I have the law on my side. Try getting a scammer in India or China hauled into their criminal courts. Very unlikely. Once they have your money, they are forever gone and you probably can't touch them.

I have purchased from a few suppliers overseas, so there are exceptions. But you must be MUCH more careful, because if it goes bad you are at the mercy of a foreign legal system. Here in the U.S., crooks like this usually get caught and punished. There is a reason that most con-artists are relatively young (Weber was 18 and this girl is 24). It is difficult to make a living out of screwing other people out of their money.

    DILLON ANNOUNCES:

ARREST OF GLEN COVE RESIDENT FOR DEFRAUDING 17 INDIVIDUALS THROUGH INTERNET

Nassau County District Attorney Denis Dillon announced today that the DA’s Criminal Frauds Bureau has arrested Maren Kozbial, 24, of 1442 Avalon Square, Glen Cove, formerly of Mineola, for defrauding 17 individuals.

According to Dillon, "While living in Mineola, Kozbial offered bulk-quantity designer clothing for sale over her own web sites of ‘R and M Accessories’ and ‘Angelic Distribution’ and by auction over the eBay website. From October, 2004, through August 2005, Kozbial accepted money for items she offered for sale and then failed to deliver the promised goods. Our investigators have identified 17 victims of this scheme. The total loss to the 17 victims is in excess of $27,000."

Some examples of Kozbial’s fraud include::

A resident of Somerset, England purchased 25 Abercrombe and Fitch jackets for $697.18, paid by American Express, through an e-Bay auction. The victim never received the merchandise. The eBay seller’s screen name was "EZStreet41". That screen name belongs to Kozbial.

A resident of Kansas City, Missouri, purchased 3 Gucci and 2 Prada bags for $1,422.50 through the R an M Accessories website and never received the merchandise.

    Answered my own question.

this woman was so full of blatant fibs that I would have never imagined sending a dime her way. She stole pictures from other web pages (said they were hers and that at times some of the model pictures in jeans were of her), etc to try to get our business. I spoke with her on the phone and she was just WAY too unbelievable. I knew right then she had to be a fraud because of the promises she made and the stock she said she could get her hands on.

No way. The authentic stuff is way too difficult to get.

Sorry for anyone who may have lost money from this woman.
