Does demand on ebay generally decrease after christmas?

Just wondering from any ebay powersellers's experience, does your sales per item increase a few weeks before christmas and decrease after christmas? I want to know because I plan to order soon and wonder how the prices on ebay will be affected by it.

I sell video game consoles on ebay. Most of the buyers are asking if they can get it by Christmas, so I'd say yes -- demand will subside after January or so. I say January because lil Johnny has his xbox or ps2 in the closet until he gets 3 brand NEW games for his system. When he takes it out of the closet to play -- disc read errors... so people will be on ebay looking for these items in January IMO. I'd imagine the same holds true for computers when you get the newest game with a computer that needs more memory or a new video card or something...
Depends on the product tho.

Generally, the silence won't last long.
It'll be back around after 2-3 weeks, as the seasonal feels gets away.
And that's a kickback, and we will sell more and more.

i've wondered the same thing myself... alot of my customers are saying things about the item being for chrismas gifts, kinda has me worried, i'm projecting a 40-50% drop in sales from now. you think that's too much?

I've found that it dips for a week or two after Christmas, but then it goes back up near the middle of January.
According to some eBay stats (theirs not mine) they are busiest during Jan and Feb and all winter in general. I'm not so sure that January sales ever quite reach pre-Christmas frenzy though. -

I dont think it'll drop that much, but I guess it depends on what you're selling as well.
Well, if it helps, I'm selling branded winter jackets... I'm hoping the sales will remain strong. But maybe I wont list as rigorously after christmas, and pick it back up by mid january. -

January is that post-Christmas gift "realignment"
Everybody sells those gifts that they don't like or didn't want in the first place.
And then they buy what they do/did want.
