Lazbuzan, thanks for posting the article. The one thing that is troubling is, how does one know when they are purchasing counterfiet goods? With dvd its easy, but with clothing it is far more subjective.
You have some pretty dang good fakes out there in the apparrel business. Then there is the whole grey market (which is just as illegal as black market) where it is actually made by the same factory as the authorized stuff.
Personally while I agree there is some link to funding terrorism, I think that is overblown by the brands and the government to guilt people into not buying a known fake.
I also feel Ebay is flat out lying by saying that the number of fakes on their site is minimal.
Boy I only wish the MPAA would take Tiffanys approach.
Just some more to ponder. -
BKenn01, Just curise. How do you tell if the dvd is fake?
-
There are seveal signs.
1. If the seller sells New Release DVD sold with just the artwork and a sleeve.
2. Asian writing on DVD supposedly for the US market
3. DVD advertised as DVD 9, DVD 5 or Region Free
4. No security seals
5. No chapter inserts (not always the case as some major dvd are coming without now)
6. Pricing for New Release is at a rediculous low price.
7. Supplier has Out of Print titles.
8. Supplier is based outside the US or Canada, selling Region 1 dvd.
Basically the DVD industry is more tightly controlled than apparrel. -
Thanks BKenn01,
I will keep it in mind. Regarding to security seals, are you refering the stickers on case like this or there are some extra features of security?
