 VERY important one to consider, here:

If an organization is offering UNLOCKED GSM cell phones, it is very important to ask the following questions:

    1) As an importer/distributor, does your company purchase the phones directly from the cell phone manufacturer(s)?

    2) If shipping these phones to locations inside the U.S., are they designed to support U.S. electrical currency standards; if not, is an adapter included?

    3) Are the packages unopened and sealed in their original packaging?

NOTE: Although a cell phone may be "unlocked", meaning re-usable and not bound to a cell phone customer contract....the phone itself may not be compatible with U.S. cell phone service providers.

As an organization, we've noticed a trend within the import marketplace associated with "grey" market phones coming into the U.S.

    CAVEAT EMPTOR! ;)

Good advice. Thanks for the heads up moonlitsun!

How do the warranties work in these situations when someone purchases a lot of cellulars or laptops?

Also, I thought as long as service providers supported GSM then "any" GSM phone should work. Isn't that so?

"any" GSM does not necessarily mean it will work. Different service providers have different GSM networks. Older phones work on Singleband GSM, some models work on dualband GSM and most newer phones work on triband GSM. The Bands represent a certain range of frequencies. Across the world only 4 GSM bands are used, therefore true GSM phones have to be quadband to work on any and all providers in the world.
    Hope i didnt confuse anyone!
