I just put up my site, and I am looking for ways to drive traffic to it.

I have submitted it to search engines, done my meta tags, and I sell stuff on ebay to help people discover my site. I've also tried to link to other sites, but I don't want to do reciprocal links.

    What else can I do?

Add your website url to your forum signature.
Frequent forums, message boards & blogs that are related to your website's product/primary focus and post relevant, informative and/or entertaining messages/replies with your website url in your signature.

I was going to say to add it to your signature here and on your emails so that everytime you email someone through ebay or other they will see it and be inclined to check it out, that is what I do and it's been working well

I would suggest you make your signature a click through link so people could simple click on your signature link and go straight to your site rather then copy and paste it. People are really lazy now days lol

Here's the latest and greatest FREE SEO tool. Google Sitemaps:
    https://www.google.com/webmasters/sitemaps

This is still very much beta technology, and it's designed to create an XML feed directly from your website to Google's search engine spiders. The great thing about this is that when you update your content or add pages, Google knows MUCH faster than as if it eventually spidered your site on its own.

    Good luck 8)

    Happy to help. ;)

FYI, we've already begun to utilize this technology and we'll post how well Google ends up spidering our (thousands) of pages.

but I don't want to do reciprocal links. then your going to have some problems if you want a good ranking on Google you need to be linked to other websites with page rank, look at link lists and top lists

    Hi,
Lots of people have already suggested great ways o help you that cost nothing but time. The only other thing i can think of that has not yet been mentioned is keywords. Keywords are very very important. Think of the words that a person looking for your product will use to find you in the search engines. Make sure those words are used plentifully in context. As for the reciprocal links, i understand where you are coming from. After all, who wants to link to their competitors. If you think outside the box you can come up with business who have something to do with your business without taking business away from you. Think of it as networking on a different level.

Ignoring recipricol links is a bad idea, they still carry weight from a SE perspective but more importantly they generate human visitors.

Get your site into as many directories as possible, this will help with the SE's. See Web Site Directories

    HTH,

You could build customer trust and relevant traffic through targetted content. Add any type of content to your website you think will be useful such as articles , photos ( moblog ) , customer reviews , tutorials , etc.

Post articles online, such as article sites as article alley, article city, or ezine articles. The more you write, the more traffic you will get, and the higher your site will be ranked in the search engines! :D

    Hi,

Seems like a lot of the "free" methods have already been mentioned. But I don''t see a mention of affiliate marketing --- you can get people to sell your products for a commission; in a way, you let affiliates take care of driving traffic to your site. Of course, attracting quality affiliates and keeping them happy is a challenge in itself, but if executed properly, it will be very rewarding.

    All the best

P.S: Check out our e-commerce guide (completely free), which has more detailed information on various online marketing techniques. Hope you find it useful. http://www.internet-retailer.com

There are 3rd party marketing sites like Shopzilla, Pricegrabber, etc....but for free listing you can still use Froogle/GoogleBase.

All the other ideas up to should be followed as well. You can upload your products to GoogleBase with the bulk import file tools to load hundreds or thousands of products all at once.
