No. It does not pay to use a submission service.

If you're looking for traffic, you'll probably get an increase... BUT depending on which engines were submitted to, the clicks you get may not be good targetted leads.

Does it pay to have someone submit to 400 engines for you? Well, it will save you time. But it only pays if those 400 engines cater to retail and wholesale consumers and businesses. If your business is linked from engines completely irrelevant, like "The Snoopy Graphics from India Search Engine," then it's worthless. (made that one up, by the way, but feel free to use it if you sell snoopy graphics from India. LOL.)

It is very easy to submit yourself to all of the "major" search engines. Some require a fee, and some are free. You'd be better off using the money you would have given to a submission service, on something like a Yahoo! listing. It will get you further in the long run.

Make sure your meta tags are in optimal order, but ALSO make sure you have good content on the pages of your site. Some search engines don't read metas, and some don't read anything but metas. Do a little research on the various major engines and see if they give any clues as to how their robots read your site. Some will state that they use your meta tags, in which case you may want to make a special "landing page" on your site to use in that search engine with better keywords, etc.

Select search engines based on your business. Don't submit to obscure link-for-free sites or sites no one knows about. Another good marketing tool is the signature in your Forum posts. Join some business-related forums (as you've done here,) and post good content -- people will trust you and are more apt to do business with you.

And if you're a wholesaler, or a retailer who also sells wholesale, then you should be listed here on Wholesale411.com to increase your "targetted" traffic and get genuine leads!

With a little time and patience, you can get much better results yourself than by using a canned submission service.

Do not use that particular service. Anyone that suggests doorway pages as a means of improving your serp position shouldn't be trusted. Pretty much every search engine recognizes doorway pages these days and chances are good that if you use them your site will be banned.

There are some submission services that might be worthwhile for you if you simply don't have the time to submit your own site.

There are a number of directories and smaller search engines that, although they won't directly provide a lot of traffic, are worthwhile because they are crawled by Google and provide a backward link that can improve your PageRank. A good submission service knows which are worthwhile and which aren't.

I noticed that there are many ways to drive traffic to your site.

One method is to use a service that opens a window behind the screen requiring the user to close it called a pop-under. The only advantage is that the person sees your full page before they close it. These are very cheap but my experience is that pop-unders deliver a lot of cheap traffic but do not deliver buying customers.

Another method is for a company to buy expired domains that had decent traffic and have them forward that traffic to you. I don't think I will bother with this.

If you just want to get your site listed for very little money, then yes, the previous poster is right, you need to focus on relevant search engines. With 36,000 sites, I suspect most of them will be a specialized variation to the snoopy pictures from India.

To get listed on the big engines with no capital outlay, you might want to try the following:

Please note that this will probably place you on a mailing list, so use a disposal address if you can.

Paid Search Engine Submission services wont meed your needs 99%+ of the time.

    We suggest the following:

    1) Overture.com (now owned by Yahoo!) - Paid adwords covering Yahoo, MSN, and a couple other major search engines

    2) Google AdWords - Cost-friendly ads within the Google search engine

    3) Froogle.com, BizRate.com, and Shop.com Product Data Feed submissions. - most of these are free submissions, others are not. This is a MUST.

    4) Google SiteMaps - Totally new BETA service which is free. More powerful than search engine spidering:

    5) SitePoint.com - Great resource for webmasters and SEO junkies.

    6) Alexa.com - Powerful tool that helps show you the total website traffic for your site, compared to the rest of the web/world.

    Hope that helps. :)

The best method is to pay a company to use SEO techniques to make sure they use professional tools to get you to the top. It's worked very well for us.

...to the important search engines is right here. Post your url on this forum. Google, Yahoo, MSN and the rest will find your site in one day and will already have a link.

Then, if you have links on your site to other sites that link to you, the search engines will find those too. You are now in the search engines with links.

Unfortunately, it will still take from a month to three months to be included in the search engine results pages (serps).

Something else to keep in mind, most websites make 90% of their income from the top five search engines. Worrying about the rest is a waste of time.

No it does not as everyone else has mentioned. If you would like to have your site submitted to many search engines and directories do it manually, it will save you a bunch of money as well.

btw you don't need to ever submit your site to any search engines because search engines crawl your site and that is usually done if at least a couple sites link to you. If you want to submit to many directories heres a good list of directories to list your site in manually, http://linkcentre.com/status/

it might take you a full day to do this but just do it, it will pay off.

I guess, you dont need to have an automatic submitter since most online users prefer to search on the major 3 search engines..
