Using Paypal shipping labels...?

So when i sell somethin on ebay i usually receive the payment, and keep the money in my paypal account and then send it to my bank account. This leaves me with not alot of money for shipping packages out [as it can get expensive at $50-60 a day at times]

today when i received a paypal payment i clicked the "Ship" button next to the payment information on my paypal account, and it asked howmuch the item i am shipping weighs, and what method of shipping i want to use.... Curious as to what this was for, [since i had never used this feature before] i clicked 'continue' and it then said "Pay" and showed me a total amount the same as what i would pay at the post office to ship the package out

i had never used this before, and didn't want to continue with paying for it because i didn't know for sure how this works. After you hit the 'Pay' button and it takes the money out of your account, and shows the shipping label, do you print the label out, and then tape it to the package and just drop it off at the post office?

like i said i dont know how this works, but i need to start using this so i don't use all my cash on shipping.

if anyone can explain how it works i'd appreciate it.

    Hi,

It is a good idea to buy a scale, or if you sell only 1 kind of product, go to a post office and use their scale, then use that WEIGHT for all your products.

    1. Click On "Ship" next to the buyer's name

    2. Click on appropriate method, usually for small items in bubble envelopes, you would choose "First Class" or for clothing such as jeans or shirts you would choose "Priority Mai", these 2 methods are the most common.

    3. Enter the amount that your product weighs, using the scale you have .

    4. insurance/delivery confirmation/signature confirmation/etc...you can choose if you would like these options, delivery confirmation is free with "Priority Mail" option.

    5. Click "Pay" and print your label

It is a great investment to purchase shipping labels such as these

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=50954&item=5567052459&rd=1

When you print your label, One half of the printed page will be your Postage. You peel that off and slap it onto your package. Then you keep the other half, which contains the shipping information and tracking number.

Also, go here for free priority/global priority/express mail shipping supplies

    I hope this helps

I use USPS click and ship as Paypal's amount to ship seems to be more than click and ship and I am not sure why. Maybe it is that USPS gives you delivery conformation for free if you ship priority. I compared a 2lb. Tyvek envelope and on PayPal it was $4.55 and on USPS it was $3.85. BUT with either, Yes you just print it out and tape it to your package or you can purchase the self-stick labels. I have been just printing and taping until I used it for a while to see if it was worth the extra money to buy the labels. USPS recommends these labels if you ship with delivery conformation which I do on all packages now since they changed the rules a little on how people could come back and say they did not get their item. https://www.labeluniverse.com/store/ind ... bels&prod=

You can also use Stamps.com for USPS with free delivery confirmation.

And you can get the half sheet labels here -
    http://formlabel.compulabel.com

Just enter 313402 in the search box and it will take you right to them.

With stamps.com you can always access your delivery status online.

I think it is pretty well covered here, but one other benefit is that if anyone ever files a dispute with PayPal, they will already have the tracking information for the item on file and you will not have to manually submit it. The free delivery confirmation really adds up if you ship a lot of packages each day. Also, the price is the same as USPS for shipping.

    nice..

i had bought things off ebay and received it with the shipping label that looked like it was printed out, on the package... just wasnt sure exactly how it worked

thanks for all the help, i have been selling on ebay for a long time without using this feature, i definitely need to start using it

can i ship international packages using this?

and for the people that ship stuff this way, do you just leave the packages on your door step, or go to the post office and just drop them off there?

    thanks

You can't ship internationally with this feaure. You will still have to go to the post office for that.

My post office has a large drop box adjacent to their self-service station. I usually just drop my packages in there. If yours doesn't have this feature, you can just bypass the line in your post office and hand them directly to a postal worker.

In Re: International USPS Click and Ship Labels

This is a great feature but very new so I will give an explanation of how it works so you and your postal worker can know:

To print International labels you can go to USPS.com and choose "Global Express." This is the easiest way I have found to ship International Packages. Unlike UPS where you have to fill out 5 pages of forms with USPS Global Express you just need to know the weight and add the product description. If the package weighs less than 1 pound you can drop it off in any mail bin and it will ship but if it weighs more than 1 pound you must take it to the post office for a "round date" and "AvSec Clearance Stamp" as proof you handed it to a postal worker. As you know the manila envelope alone can sometimes take you over the 1 pound rule! This defeats the purpose of convenience since you still have to take it to the post office. So I have learned how to train your postal worker.

Just schedule a pickup and tell your carrier to placard your mail as "Known Customer" for deposit at the "AvSec Unit" so they can ensure application of "POPPA" and "round date clearance stamp" If you need a copy of this document to show your post man let me know and I can email you a copy. Trust me they will know what all of this means and it will save you the headache of lugging those big International packages to the post office or having your post man accept the packages and have them all returned because they didn't know to apply the stamps. (been there and done that ;)

Here is a link to USPS Global Express:
    https://sss-web.usps.com/ds/jsps/showInternational.jsp

You will need to sign up to use it - just standard info: email, name, address and you will add a credit card online so you can pay for and print labels.

I wish you could print global priority mail at home. I think my buyers would not go for the high cost of Global Express.
My post office is not all that friendly. 1 of the workers in particular refuses to let me pass the line and leave packages.. even domestic packages that I have done all the paypal printed click and ship labels for. He insists I wait in line so he can weigh each package and confirm I have the correct postage. I go there 2-3 times a week, and my postage has NEVER been wrong, but he insists I wait anyways. I think it is just a power trip for him. :x

Two things to do with the power-tripper. First, ask to speak with the Postmaster. Second, simply tell him or the PM to just send any incorrectly weighed packages back to you, as they would if you did something else wrong.

I always go "in through the out door", set my stuff by the first clerk station and walk out. The guy who is usually there even tells me "Thank You!"

The postal service is just as interested in expediting things as you are. Go to the boss, if that doesn't work, go to the boss's boss. Don't take it laying down.

Remember the magic words - "Let me speak to your supervisor."

I ship ALL my packages through PayPal and the mail lady picks everything up at my door. I order my envelopes and boxes online and I bought a scale for $30. It's GREAT - I can't believe I stood in long lines with armloads of packages before!

Now if only they would get it set up to do Airmail and Global Priority, I'd NEVER leave my house to go to the post office! Lol!
