I was in gymboree today checking out their clearance and asked when gymbucks would be starting and was told probably next week. Gymboree is suppose to donate everything to miricale network so it is hard to find on the secondary market through liquidators. Plus they pretty much discount down to nothing so they don't ship out much.
How the Gymbucks works is that for every $50.00 you spend on regualr to clearance merchandise they will give you one gymbuck worth $25.00 off a %50.00 perchase of regualr to clearance stuff at a later date. So the more you spend now the more gymbucks you earn to spend later. Gymbucks are even sold on e-bay and fetch quite a bit.
You usually have several weeks to earn gymbucks and during those weeks they will continue to do do markdown. Many people go in and strickly buy clearance at 60%-80%, usually several 100.00 dollars at a time. If you buy 400.00 worth of gymboree clearance you will receive 8 gymbucks or 200.00 off a purchase of 400.00. They hold the clearance until the next season to resale. Then the day the gymbucks become redemeable they will do 2 things. 1) go in and buy 400$ worth of clearance already 60-80% off and use their gymbucks to get another $200.00 off or another 50% off the lowest price.
Or they will buy every piece of the newest line in size x-large or xx-large the hardest size to get. The line won't be on sale but with their gymbucks they will get 50% off. Then they will go home and list the complete lot on e-bay getting full price for it becaus those sizes will already be sold out in the stores and immediatley doubling their money and getting back part of their origianl investment on all the clearance making that stuff paid for and everything you sell the gymboree next season for will be pure profit.
Many of the gymboree employees do this as well.
That's how you see brand new gymboree still in the retail stores on e-bay and they are making good money off of it. thanks one2growon
