I'm considering creating my own "Line" of clothes. I'm not a fashion designer...or anything like that. I simply want to take popular concepts/designs...get a Mfg. to make me a bulk order....and then sell the clothes with my own Name brand.
Now..I'd be able to Mfg. the jackets at 20% of the regular market costs or less. I'd then be able to put the jackets for sale either wholesale or retail (Website) at greatly discounted prices. I mean..pay 30% less than the same jacket made by other name trademark.
I guess I'm wondering...a nice jacket with no popular name attached...will it sell?
Example..find yourself a nice jacket at Banana Republic.
What If I sold the same $100 jacket at $60 with my own label on it?
Will people buy the name..or the nice quality jacket at a discount price?

Popular name brands...or a no name brand?

People want the status of the label -- not just a style and not even just quality (unfortuantely):

It's one of the reasons people pay $200.00 for a pair of jeans instead of wearing generic ones.
My 2 cents. -
I've seen decent winter jackets sell for as little as $9.99 from china without a real name brand on them (said Chevy though on the back
nice!
Clothing is an oddball market, you either have a name get big $$ don't have a name and get the generic price (super cheap), in between seems to be the name brands that are irregular, overstocks, outdated or fakes.
I'm sorry but thats almost always how it is unless you "handcraft" and sell at craft markets or have some other Niche you can work to move your price up.
Thats one of the many reasons I don't waste my time on cloths, people are TOO price aware of them and its too competitive about the only way you could make it reasonably is by selling fakes and thats not where I want to be.

Could you tell me how to find a manufacture that makes name brand clothing and willing to make the same clothing for you and use your own brand? Thanks. brand is not important to the market I sell the clothing, but quality is. sdlu@comcast.net
