Ok, so about 6 months ago I started selling on eBay, started with digital cameras. Got about 50 from Taiwan but some unknown reason they wouldn’t sell. I had a very professional attractive template with every piece of information there was about the cameras on the auction page but couldn’t sell a single one. In the end I had to drop the price to less than half what other people were selling them for just to get rid of them.

After that I was staying well clear of cameras and decided to try and sell posters instead. First time I only got around 100 just to see how they would go and they did ok, not great but I was get bids on 40-50% of my auctions even though some of the posters were pretty bad choices as I was still very inexperienced. After Id just about sold out of the first 100 I went back to the same wholesaler and this time got around 400, rebuying the ones that sold well and adding a few new ones to try out. Put them on eBay and they did even worse than before, only around 30-40% were selling and I still have quite a few left of those today.

Anyway, I eventually got rid of them be dropping the prices and last month made a 3rd order but this time I spent over 4 hours going through all my records of what had sold and so on and only bought posters I was 100% sure would sell. I started putting them on eBay 3 weeks ago and some how they are doing even worse than before! Now I'm only selling around 25% of my auctions and these are posters that in the past months had been selling every week and now they won’t sell at all. I carried on putting them up praying something would change but it just got worse and this weeks auctions with only 20 hours left Ive only sold 6 out of 56 auctions that I put on (at a guess Ill probably sell around 10 out of 56).

I have 266 100% positive feedback and am selling for around the same prices as other people with the same shipping charges ect. So can someone please please PLEASE tell me why my posters won't sell?

Thanks, Ive tried lower starting prices but that doesnt really help, even tried putting them all on for 0.01p once but they just all ended up going for around £1. Also everyone else selling posters does the same, but they seem to sell theirs and I dont :( Also one thing I noticed is about half of my buyers are foreign, mostly from the United States, maybe there’s something Im doing to put off UK buyers? Problem is Im moving to Canada for a year in February and wont be able to sell them after then so I need to get rid of 250 posters in less than 2 months :/

Why don't you try a mixed lot of 10 posters in the wholesale section. Sometimes moving to a unique category may help.

Frame shops or decorators are always looking for things. Or a book store at university.

I did think about selling them as a job lot but I dont think I can any more because I already packed them into tubes so I could ship them fast. Im sure there is something that is putting people off which would probably still effect me no matter what I sold but I dont want to give up selling on eBay so what should I do?

Your auctions look very nice, and I can't see that you are doing anything wrong.

Doing a search for "posters" under completed listings seems to show that you chose an item that doesn't sell very well, unless it's signed. Your competitors don't seem to be doing any better than you are.

You might try using different keywords in your titles to draw people to your posters. Instead of saying only "poster" and the title of the poster, you might try adding words like "art," etc. You leave some dead space in some of your titles, and remember, that space is for keyword searches rather than coherency as a title, so use all of it. Study what the people with bids have and see what they do.

You might also add gimmicky thing to make yours stand out, if you don't want to sell them in lots. Perhaps if you have a poster of a car, you can add a matchbox car as a free gift, or something like that.

    Good luck.
