hi everyone i was hoping someone could help me with a problem. I sold someone an x-box on ebay the item was shipped right from the supplier, they sent it to me by mistake. so i contacted him and told him this and i told him i will reship the item, i went straight to the post office on my way home from work and shipped it. he never asked for insurance and i had to pay almost 20.00 out of pocket to reship so i didn't purchase the insurance for the extra 5.00. Now he is claiming he never received it. and wants a refund. usually i use click and ship and i get a tracking number but i went right to the post office this time so don't have a tracking number. I will never do this again with a large purchase, i wish i had purchased delivery confirmation. he already left me negative feedback without even trying to resolve this. I stated in checkout that items shipped without insurance i am not liable for. and i told him i strongly urge insurance if interested please contact me for insurance price. he filed with square trade and i responded. i have don't nothing wrong other then not purchasing the insurance to protect myself and delivery confirmation. does anyone have any suggestions. i belive he got the package but figures it took longer then he wanted and he is trying to scam me. someone tryed to do this to me before but i had a tracking number and it showed the item was shipped to her house so i email her the info and she never emailed me back. i cannot do that with this one. Feedback is very important to me, its bad enough half of my customers never leave me feedback now i have negative and he wants his money back. I cannot refund the money as the item was shipped. Is there any other action he can take against me, that i should know about. Does anyone have any suggestions. any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks a lot

Really nothing you can do about it without tracking of some kind. Always get delivery confirmation, it only costs a few cents and would save your but in these situations.
I had a problem with an order I placed with someone and I did not get it for a long time. They were able to provide me wth a delivery confirmation number and I looked it up to see that it WAS delivered to me but I never got it. So someone must have stole the package from my front porch or delivered to wrong address and the confirmation number also showed it was sent to the right answer.
It was my fault for not getting insurance and I left the seller alone since it was not their fault obviously.
Try to get the situation taken care of some how and out of the way and move along... use it as a learning experience. -
IF THEY PAID THRU PAYPAL THEY CAN FILE A COMPLAINT WITHIN 30 DAYS. SINCE YOU HAVE NO PROOF OF DELIVERY THEY WILL TAKE THE MONEY FROM YOUR ACCOUNT IF YOU HAVE A BALANCE. THIS HAPPENED TO ME BEFORE. THEN 2 WEEKS LATER THE PACKAGE CAME BACK TO ME UNDELIVERABLE! THEY WILL ALSO LIMIT YOUR PAYPAL ACCOUNT IF IT HAS HAPPENED BEFORE.

Instead of saving a few cents on the confirmation and insurance, you've ended up losing a lot of money.
You don't say how long it's been since you shipped it, but if it's been over 3 weeks, you might just as well bite the bullet and issue a refund.
Lesson learned - ALWAYS use delivery confirmation. And add insurance, even if you have to pay it yourself. Or, better yet, add it into your price. -
I've had this happen to me, and it suks! If you kept the receipt as proof that would help and maybe make him shut his mouth. If you have no proof, or insurance wasn't offered with the auction. Then refund his money. If insurance was offered, but he declined, then I would tell him to take a hike.
1.)Leave buyer negative feedback
2.) Call or email and say first with withdrawal the negative and then you will refund the money. (If you first send him his refund, he won't care about withdrawing the feedback)
3.)Start the withdrawals process with ebay, he accepts to withdrawal it
4.) Refund his money
-This way you both win. You get the negitive comment taken away and so does he. He also gets him money back. But you loose the money.
-Another thing that I would consider is this. How much does a xbox go for these days? $100 or around that? Would you rather have $100, or a negative comment? Is it really worth it to refund it?
And if you get really desperate you can do this....Leave him negative feedback, but curse him out. Ebay will then retract both members comments! And you keep the money.
Or, refund part of his money. And yes I know these aren't the best ways to conduct business. But you do what you gotta do. I would do it in a heart beat if I felt someone was trying to screw me -
send him a new box, with rocks in it, and put tracking on it.

Nah, put bird feathers in it, that way you save on shipping

LOL

The feather comment coming from a guy who has an ostrich next to his name! LOL

Dude, this sucks and I feel for ya.
Without a delivery confirmation or tracking number, you're out. You cannot prove to anyone that you mailed the package out or that it was ever received. The post office receipt is the best you have, but it doesnt show an address, only a city, state, zip.
We go to business classes, go to college and spend tens of thousands of dollars to learn. Just take this as a $200 lesson, it's relatively cheap compared to other things we pay to learn.
1) The best thing for higher priced items is to use UPS or FEDEX ground. In most cases, it's similarly prices to the postal service and they both include $100 in insurance free. They both also give you tracking numbers on every single item you ship.
2) REQUIRE insurance. If a buyer buys something from you, declines insurance, and the package is lost in the mail -- then what? They will still expect you to replace it. In fact, if I'm not mistaken, mail order houses are required to replace anything the customer never receives. So don't make insurance optional, either work it into shipping or require people buy it.
You're out the cost of an xbox, but it could be a lot worse... just take it as a lesson.
