Hi all,
I really need your help on this one. I set up an ad last night to advertise my gift baskets with Google adWords. I picked the keywords and redid them a few times today. Their estimate to be near the top was over $4. a click with a minimum of $20. per day. For a month. That's way over my budget. I submitted for $1.00 per click, max $10 per day, using 6 key words. I did searches for each keyword and went on and on. Got to page 50 and still didn't see my ad. I also set regions for NYC and NJ.
Does anyone have experience with their advertising? How many pages is it worthwhile to be in the search? Is the competition to steep for me with them and should I forget about that venue? How reliable are they?
My ad reads:
Spiritual Gift Baskets
Like to give gifts that inspire & motivate?
Exclusive baskets, $32. and up!
My keywords are:
gift baskets, gift baskets NYC, gift basket ideas, inspirational gifts, spiritual gifts, unique gift baskets.
Inspirational and spiritual gift baskets came up to be less than one chance of a click, so I didn't use those.
Thanks in advance,
Ronnie

Log in to your account and make sure your getting at least some impressions (meaning there seeing your site, but not clicking it), going to page 50, everyone on those 50 pages before are probably paying $1.01 and more. You'd be suprised at raising your per click a penny or two more how many pages it raises you. Why not try going on smaller engines first. Starting out with a $1.00 per click is kind of much or less you have $500 easy to put in to advertising on just google. You have to try other search engines. Try overature.com, they list on several, including yahoo.
Hope this helps some. -
Hi Doug,
Thank you. I did get my impressions today, and it was over 1900, but I only had nine clicks. I also submitted another ad to promote my energy healing products that I use in the baskets. People can purchase products individually as well. I still made the destination page the same as the baskets since that page will tell them the products I sell. Hopefully with the 2 ads I will hit.
I have the ads running only until Dec 25, and I'll check my expenditures daily. If it doesn't become cost effect I'll cancel the ads. Basically I want clicks and buyers of course, but I want people to see the basket event I'm having on Dec. 18th in my office. When people come I'll ask them how they came to find out about it. I'll see if any came from the ads. Also I have many other services in the spiritual counseling arena that people might be interested in when they get to my site.
I never thought of investigating the smaller search engines like Overture, so you gave me something else to think about.
Thanks again.
Ronnie
