Ridiculous Pricing

Let me share a real story that happened to me.

I was trying to buy something wholesale from a supplier. I asked for the unit price of a 20pcs order and 40pcs order. And he told me it would be $80/unit if I order less than 40pcs, and $40/pc if I order more than 40pcs.

I knew he desperately wanted to sell me more than 40 pcs, but the pricing is just ridiculous and it is so obvious that he just made up the wholesale price w/o even think over it carefully.

    With his wholesale price:

    1) If I buy 25pcs : $25x80 = $2000

    2) If I buy 40 pcs and and just throw away 15 pcs: $40x40=$1600

I can't believe he didn't even bother to set a realistic price when he tried to rip me off.

Did it not get you thinking "whatkind of business does this guy run?"

It's a bit of a red flag, a desperate attempt to get a sale?

    LoL

Maybe you get money back if you take ~ 500 pieces?

Yep, I wrote him an email and told him if this is his pricing policy, I would like to order 40 and maybe sell 15 back to him for $1/each. ^_^

He wasn't prompt to reply my email (My guess is he's working on a good answer). Then he changed his story: now he offers $60/pc for orders of 20pcs-40pcs.

I haven't replied his email yet. But I noticed that 40pcs still cost less than 30pcs:

    $60x30=$1800

    $40x40=$1600

I think I'll give him more time to work on his pricing, the poor guy just couldn't make the pricing reasonable. 8)
