Polybags revisited

There was some discussion of polybags recently and if designer clothing comes in them. I ordered several pairs of jeans from vondutch.com recently. They all arrived ...drumroll... in polybags, LOL. They weren't printed polybags, though, they were plain with white stickers.
Vondutch.com is an interesting place to shop. Their fraud detection includes digging up lots of info on you via authorize.net and calling you up for a "multiple choice quiz" before they ship. The guy who called knew my parents' names, ages, and the name of a county I lived in 15 years ago. I had to verify it all. Amazing. -

That's kinda scary!
Why do you need so much information to purchase jeans from von dutch.com?
Those jeans you bought - do they come with microstitching?
There's got to be something that can differentiate them from a fake.
obviously now you can't go via polybags

Waterlily: I didn't need any info, they did.
They claimed it was for fraud control. Authorize.net gathers info in the public domain and gives it to vondutch.com. The guy who called me already had all this info about me and asked it in the form of a multiple choice quiz, where there were three wrong answers and one correct one. I had to pass all the questions before they'd ship the stuff. Honestly, I was tempted to just say "keep it!" and hang up.

The jeans are at the tailor right now, being hemmed, so I'll have to look when I get them back. I bought adult jeans and kid jeans. What, exactly, is microstitching, anyhow? Is that just smaller stitches than regular stitching, and if so, about how small is it? If you like, I can send you pictures. I bought the lowride squared jeans for both me and my daughters. They really are beautiful jeans, made from a denim with a bit of stretch for a great fit. I can see why so many people want to counterfeit them, esp. since the adult pair cost $250. -
Hrm - what a hassel just to buy some jeans.
'Fraud control?' - how many jeans were you buying?
I think Von Dutch has gone nuts.
Microstitching is stitching on the tag - supposibly if you put a magnifying glass to it, you can read some sort of writing.
Its something hard to replicate i guess.
fakediesel.com had pictures of microstitching.
I'm yet to test it out - and if i can - get some pics of it on my camera.
BTW - when you want to quote you write quote in square brackets []
put what you want in there and then finish it with /quote in square brackets.
give it a go
test it out by previewing your message first rather than submitting it straight away.
Also there are Quote button at the top underneath the subject box which you can use too - does exactly the same thing.

hehe pretty crazy stuff. I know with most designer apparel, items come in polybags to protect the garments, but as for printing there logo's on them, I havent come across too many..

I dont know designer apparel but some urban apparel companies do ship their goods in polybags with the label on the bag.
Gee maybe I oughta switch from Linkpoint to authorize.net as my payment gateway on my site I got hit with 3 chargebacks last month and wasnt pleased.
When I signed up for checkfree.com, They had the same process online, I was impressed. They asked about family members, They had 3 names that I had to choose the one that I was related to. Another question had the street that I lived on 12 years ago. Big Brother is definately watching us, but I really didnt mind. Maybe this is the sort of Verification Paypal should adopt when new users set up an acct, their current system of depositing pennies into an acct and asking you to verify the amounts is a joke. Supposedly only the real owner would know these amounts. Thats just one big joke. -

It's a function of price; apparently for everything over a certain amount they want to verify that the owner of the card is placing the order.Microstitching is stitching on the tag - supposibly if you put a magnifying glass to it, you can read some sort of writing.
Its something hard to replicate i guess.
Do you mean the small, square tag sewn on the back waistline? Now I'm going to have to check all my designer jeans for this.
I used the quote box just for you.

MissTinyWiny: What was the reason for the chargebacks? Were they done with stolen credit cards? My understanding is that Von Dutch did the authorize.net thing simply to verify that I, as the owner of the credit card, was indeed placing the order. -
