To people who import: Is customs more likely to seize a large shipment of fake goods than a small one, or is it just random? If so, how large is large?

Now educate urself before you buy!!!!

Do you seriously think that you can buy cheap Nike, Von Dutch or other name brand products from China????

They're sold as replicas and you should know that, next time spend some time reading posts on this forum before you waste your money.

And BTW, forget about your money, you'll never get a refund.

Large shipments are more suspect to getting confiscated by customs, but small orders can be taken as well.

Customs can be very random at this. I know someone who imports lots of bootleg anime dvd's for resale and he would get shipments randomly confiscated. Even stuff customs would go through would not confiscated sometimes, but sometimes it would.

Large shipments would come in no problem, but then tiny shipments would get taken for example.

It can be very random sometimes.

Aroma Bargains: Are there some couriers that are more apt to be searched than others, or is that random, too?

I'm wondering how the people who import replicas do it. You see so many on eBay and other websites, that clearly they're importing on a regular basis. Do they just figure some shipments will get seized and others won't, and figure the lost $$$ as just a cost of doing business?

Its true that China and Korea do sell and illegally import fake/replicas of different name brand items, however that does not mean real authentic items are not made there. Big companies use countries like Korea/China to make there stuff and have these companies ship them here to the US. However there are a batch of leftovers from materials not all being used, so people with connections within the warehouse get a hold of them and can sell them cheaper by paying only the costs to make them. You just have to know the difference between fake and real. Like if you ever go to Korea there are places where you can buy real authentic stuff but its twice as expensive but always cheaper than retail. For example you might be able to get a fake jersey for 10$ however a real jersey will cost ya double.

    FYI

Countires like china, india, sri lanka etc. all have licensed factories producing authentic apparel. The problem is that non-licensved factories produce imitated apparel, some of them are really obvious fakes and some of them are top grade replicas, which can also fool the buyer. I guess if you want genuine apparel, they would only come with paperwork.

    Oh yeah,
look at the prices as well! If something is for like $5 and the ussual wholesale price is like $25, this is a clear sign something is fishy. So looking at the prices also helps you determine whether something is genuine or not. But also look out for people who sell apparel at near wholesale prices but in fact the apparel is imitiated  a lot of thieves and crooks out there! Also do back up checks on the companies e.g. looking at the registry, asking in the forum, and the best of all....
