What makes flea markets great is no two are the same, so sorry but you need to go to the market and see what's selling yourself. 8)

Before renting the booth, you should walk the market and see what is being sold there now. Then find that niche to fill. If no one has tools, toys, or kitchen ware. Find something that would make people say, "I have to go to the flea market and buy ..." . Don't be another me too. If you see people selling socks or dvds, pick something else. Be unique.

    Good Luck!

We always found body jewelry, and gag items are good sellers. As long as your present them well, and have a good display and set up, you should do fine with a lot of things. Just as long as your not over prices, and not selling high dollar items.

I sell on flea markets and swapmeets in California for two years now.
I am still very new to this business , which is not easy at all .
From my observation these kind of affairs can be divided in two categories. Flea market where sell "antiques" or general markets , with mainly spanish speaking clientele looking for the deal , cheap, discunt etc
I make money on the second type.
We set our store taking for the model stores for tourists on Hollywood blv, Los Angeles and it works really good.
We sell knives , making sure are not very common, like double blades, collectable, Pancho Villa, Road 66, etc.
We sell many lighters, this kind which flashes or has color flame, or knife, or naked woman , looks like telefon , gun .
Motion kinetic pictures, water mowing, eagle, deer, panda, waterfall in the background .
    We sell bling watches .
We have exelent supplier of leather goods . The hottest absolutely item are leather vests.
We sell also jackets, long coats ( very good, those are this pached leather, navarre, we able to sell the coat for $50 and it works well) chaps.
We sell guitars. Air guns and rifles (rifles hot, hot, hot !!)
We sell a lot of glass and metal pipes .
Last year we added some sport items and is good as well. Weights, punching bags, boxing gloves, supporting bells scate boards .
    Besides we have spanish dvd's.
Our store looks very good and it helps a lot, people stop to take a look and this is super beginning.
We are thinking to start slowly wholesale business addressed exlusively to swapmeet vendors , who want to build own customized lot .
How I said we are doing well, we started from the average $80 a day and this year we close with $400-$500 a day.
If you want more info, send e-mail .
