I would need to see picture of them. Many of the fakes will have a line between the brim and the top part of the hat across them.

    Thanks for information.

I haven't bought any yet as I am trying to determine what to look out for regarding fakes.

I noticed you are selling them for $19.50 each on your site. How much for 50?

Do you think it is too good to be true when people are selling 20 for $12 each?

    Thanks

It is sooo hard to tell from a fake and a real one.
Well i was told that you can simply tell by the "V" on the front VonDutch badge. The fakes ones have a joined "v" (hope that makes sense) and the real Von Dutch hats , there "V's" are separated. Don't know if this is true or not.

    Anyone have any ideas??

    Thanks!

This is coming from somoene who just brought a $600 LV wallet

Also, the caps were first made in the USA before they were commercialized and became a overnight trend (thank god its dying already). Then production started to move to China and Korea.

Shops sell Von Dutch made in China and in Korea.

And since these countries are so good at imitating them. It's difficult to tell an authentic from a fake.

Trucker hats are dying... Wait and see what the fashion industry comes up with next

i think zhenjie is pointing out how ironic it is that you're willing to spend $600 on a LV wallet, but then you consider $99 for a Von dutch cap 'a rip off.' ;-)

As far as quality I truly think the range is just too broad for authentics. They range from just plain shoddy quality to quality that can be reflective of the retail price. But a tip from an insider says make sure stitching is a different color than the fabric its sewn on to.

Hi, i've been offered some Von Dutch hats, they're not trucker caps as I was expecting, but baseball style instead, also they're made in Thailand, everything else seems legit though, any thoughts on if they are indeed real or should i sell them at the local markets instead?

In Thailand ? lol.... I've never ever seen a Von Dutch Hat made in Thailand.. i'd stick to the flea markets or you can take the risk and list your auctions, but i don't think you would last very long.

    Just a thought.

Authentic Von Dutch hats are indeed made in Korea. Korea manufacturers who get huge orders of 10,000 - 30,000 hats from Von Dutch direct. The catch is they usually end up with more material and can produce couple thousand after their quota. These are legal companies who make hats for huge companies. However people with inside connections with these manufacturers will be able to buy these hats leftover at much lower prices than resellers cost direct from von dutch. But overall thats how it works. I've noticed alot of wholesalers on this board sell a mix variety of fakes and also real authentics. However looking at the prices it seems to jump through alot of people before making it here to the states.

Hat manufacturers in Korea do not produce the same hats every month. It all depends on what contracts they win or whatnot.

okay here is the lowdown as we just became on of von dutch's large wholesale customers.

The hats are made in Korea, China, and in the US.

anyone willing to sell these hats to you at $12 is most likely fake. And will not have a release from Von Dutch to sell. I know one thing for certain that Von Dutch does not allow thier merchandise to be sold online. You supplier has to tell you this because von dutch makes you sign a contract that you can not sell online, or to online customers.

In some cases yes you can sell online, but the only merchandise that von dutch will allow you to sell online is their IR's, Then there is no restrictions on them. and you are free to sell to anyone anyhow you see fit.

Reason that $12 is most likely fake. We have so far purchase millions dollars worth from them, and yet we can't even get that price. How could they offer it to you for $12.

Look at it this way, their regular wholesale for these hats are average of $22 each hat. At closeout they average at $16-$18 each to the customers. But to get this price you will have to be like us, and buy on average of 100,000 units of hats to get these prices.

Yes, you can also buy from the factories that have made these hat's for Von Dutch. However they are still illegal simply because Von Dutch did not give them the full release of the merchandise to sell. Unless they can prove that Von Dutch has authorize them to sell the merchandise, you are still buying fakes.

In this industry its all about the paper trail, and if it goes all the way back to Von dutch or not.

All I can say is that make sure you buy from someone that you can go to their warehouse and pick up the merchandise, and that they will give you a invoice with their company name on it. other wise move on!
