Do Big Wholesalers Actually Buy and Sell on eBay Wholesale?

I keep going back to the wholesale section of eBay and have never seen a transaction over $50,000. Not exactly the sort of stuff that keeps the wheels of the American supply chain spinning. So does anyone know if the Really Big Players - the guys that buy widgets directly from the manufacturer and distributes them to several states - are at least sniffing around the wholesale area of eBay?

It really doesn't seem so. We are manufacturers, and we're looking to sell our whole monthly production of 5,000 units at 50-100 dollars apiece. So it would only make sense to advertise in the eBay wholesale section if there were someone big enough to take us on. We don't want to drop-ship, and I don't see any sense in splitting our production up into lots of tens or dozens, when there are companies out there that would buy our whole enchillada. Alas, these companies seem as elusive as Big Foot...

Is the Big Supply Chain Game only for a small clique of established players who already know each other well? Is there any way to bust this clique IF (and I said IF) we have the quality and the price?

Why would a professional company want to go on Ebay to sell it's goods?

For one, the people with the pockets deep enough to afford $50,000 orders ARN'T shopping Ebay.

For two, that's alot of money to waste on Ebay fees.

eBay had been actively pursuing the big companies to sell direct. Attending major trade shows, full page ads in trade papers. They were doing it professionally. Whether it worked, I don't know.

I believe eBay has a big restaurant supply category. So it could be for the little mom and pop upgrading equipment or just starting out.

Have you tried a search for restaurant supply, magazines, etc.

Some reps actively advertise in the back. Have you checked out web pages for trade shows. You may find list of exhibitors or attendees. Could get some ideas or leads from that.

Sorry for getting off your topic.

Ebay advertises in one of the wholesale trade magazines that I get and I was really upset to see that. Hopefully none of these larger companies who advertise in the mag that do business with the little people like me decide to go Ebay. I did see one of the companies from the tradeshows on Ebay but they werent on there for very long, I guess they realized Ebay is not for anyone. I know some comanies sell some of their refurbished stuff on Ebay, but I doubt that they buy. But its so bad for us smaller sellers. Just another way that Ebay has been giving us small sellers the bird.

There really isnt any real wholesale on e-bay. You have to find the people that deal direct, and import. I will sell stuff for what I paid for it on e-bay in the wholesale section just to get rid of it sometimes but thats as close as it gets. You need to look up wholsale locally. I buy from places in Indianapolis that is an hour and a half away from my house. If someone has a better idea let me know! http://www.vistawholesale.com is pretty good too.
