Can anyone recommend a decent/professional phone order processing company /call center they currently using that will take retail orders from a company's catalog/website?

I need one to just take phone orders, not customer service issues.

Years ago, before voice mail, I had a friend that ran an "answering service" in our town. She answered all the doctors' phone when they were out of the office. They also had some 800 numbers in there to take orders for companies when they were closed. At night, her people would transcribe legal and medical orders to keep busy. Her people were good, because they had to know who was on call and call the pager. She has since sold the business, but it still exists.

But you could check around your area to see if it exists locally. Phone company would just run a line with your number to the office. Or you could have call forwarding.

I always try to think outside the box.

Thanks. I have already contacted local and regional answering services. they do not do order taking, only answering services. Like for 24 hour and off-hour doctor's calls, plumbers, etc.

Would the phone order taker need some knowledge of your product?
How would questions during the order process be handled?

Or are you fortunate enough to have customers that allready know the answers?

I know it's frustrating when you can take a few minutes from a busy day to place an order and the order taker is clueless.

Fax or on-line ordering is relatively painless as long as you get confirmation of order received.

Or maybe phone orders only taken between specified hours.

    Just a few thoughts

I do not need product knowledgable order takers. All they need to do is record info. The customer is usually aware of what they want to buy and they also will kow that it is just an order line, not customer service line. There are many in my industry that do this, so I think for the time being, while I am getting together other ventures, it is best to take the "order taker" route.

    Thanks for your suggestions, though.
