Hello, there! I just recently rented a spot at my local flea market to sale various types of hats. Right now, all I have are fitted sports hats (which are very sharp). Just wondering what was really selling in your areas as far as caps go? I’ve noticed quite a bit of “Chopper” related hats, but I’m not sure if I should invest in some of those or just stay strictly in the sports area. I know trucker hats are quite popular, but my dealer doesn’t specialize in that area too much...same way with Von Dutch. Also was wondering if the velcro-back sports hats sell as well as the fitted? I know they have better designs than most of the fitted, but I figure most people prefer fitted. Any suggestions as far as hat products go, I’d sure appreciate to hear. I’m looking to expand my inventory, but not sure which direction to go yet. Thanks!

Depends on your target consumer. Out in the country, regular plain hats will do well. Rednecks and backwoods kinfolk, like that kind of stuff. Humm starting to sound like my family. BUT if your in a trendy fleamarket just outside of town, you will need more trendy hats. You would need to focus more on sports teams and music related hats, and of course those dumb ugly von dutch hats. :D sorry I don't like them that much, and I think it makes cool people look like rednecks. Not that there is anything wrong with looking like a redneck, but still. It's a fad and it's about to go away when people relize they just don't look very cool. 8)

If fitted hats are selling...stick to 'em. Problem is that you have to carry several sizes of the same hat, ie...7, 71/4, 7 1/2 , 7 5/8, 7 7/8, (kidding) but you get the point. In the long run you might get stuck with several sizes that just won't sell (like size 12, for big heads). You have to adjust your prices to account for this. Additionally, you limit your potential customers to males (mostly). Velcro is preferred by women because of the pony tail look. Urban customers seem to prefer the fitted hats--they wear backwards. Outside of town (country) seem to prefer adjustable hats, because they don't get hair cuts all that often. You have to adjust to your market.
