    Hello,

The RN or CA number is on all clothing and is to show the identity of the person by or for whom it was made.

The Federal Trade Commission has a database search system where you can trace a RN back to the company. The website is:

    http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/rn/

To search a CA number in Canda try:

    http://competition.ic.gc.ca/epic/intern ... 1120e.html

You will find that when you enter 41381 for Ralph Lauren, however, what comes up is not current. My guess is that this is an old link to a company that used to have a license with Ralph Lauren. 41381 is one of three correct RN for Ralph Lauren.

For current RN information on your favorite designers try:

    http://www.ag.state.ut.us/licenses/Curr ... hing.shtml

    Good Luck!

P.S. Here is the exact definition of an RN according to the FTC:

RN stands for Registered Identification Number. It is a number issued by the FTC to U.S. businesses that manufacture, import, distribute, or sell products covered by the Textile, Wool, and Fur Acts. Businesses can use this number on product labels in lieu of the company name

all that said fake jeans, clothing have real rn numbers printed on them. Thats not a 100% way of knowing if your product is real..

The fact is that buying anything on the Internet, but particularly items known to be often "non-genuine" by any other name - "You pay your money and you take your chances."

Use plastic if you can. Anything else is a definite risk.

If you want to know what you're getting, attend trade shows related to the products you wish to sell. Develop relationships with your suppliers. Remember, most manufacturers have developed chains of distribution and anything bought outside the established distribution system is subject to fraud.

If it sounds too good to be true, it is a ripoff.

The RN number is what you are talking about I believe, as others here have indicated.

As an example, the RN # for Juicy Couture is 92918:
The firms legal name is : TRAVIS JEANS, INC. While the company name is :JUICY

The above info can be found at:

    https://rn.ftc.gov/pls/TextileRN/wrnquery$.startup

With that being said, I have had the bad experience of being fooled by what I thought were authentic Juicy sets.... complete with proper RN number, proper tags, paperwork, including release papers, the works, all quite good quality and as fake as a 6 dollar bill... It was my fault, I was not careful enough.

So I guess in summary, do not be lulled into a false sense of security by a RN number.

internet will never tell you if the products are fake or real, so is up to you if want to get a good deal while hoping the internet is the best way to go.

    just my opinion
