Ever hear of a monopoly, well ebay is a near monopoly. They have 99.9999% of all internet auction traffic, period. The only other site that's even close is http://www.ioffer.com . BUT they are having their share of problems right now with scam artists invading the site. Also there is a huge amount of people selling from dropshippers at insane high prices. Also the site is infected with conterfit lv purses. They have many many problems and will go under unless they clean it up, but they are the only other contender. Why don't you like ebay, I know that's a wonderful question, but seriously. I do very well over there, it all depends on what you sell. If your not making enough to cover ebay and paypal fees, your not selling the right product basically. 8)

The sell-through rate averages around 5-8 percent, but some items are closer to zero. If your a part timer it might be ok for a once and a while sale, but it could never be a full time job like ebay. I've been keeping a very very close eye on them, but they just don't have what it takes yet. 8)

It sounds like the starter of this thread is lookin gto buy somehting rather than sell.

But at any rate, if you do not find it on ebay, you will be hard-pressed to find it elsewhere.

What are you looking to buy, out of curiosity? Did you try google searches? They may be more effective than trying other auction sites.

That site is so new that they do not even have an alexa ranking. meaning you will never make a sale and you will be lucky if you find anything for sale and by a trusted seller.

Why waste your time with obscure auction sites??

And that is $1.60 completely wasted because with no buying visitors means you will never sell a thing.

There are a bajillion new auction sites out there that charge nothing to list or buy. But they are a waste of time because they get NO qualified, targeted traffic what-so-ever. What is the point in listing if you are not going to make a sale???

I went t to that site for a good laugh. From what I could tell, everything was listed by loner6972 including the auctions labelled as test auctions which should have been removed in my opinion.

In order to establish the site, it looks like the owner will place $4.95 into the account. I think a better approach would be to list free and pay no final value fee until the site builds up a respectable user base. At this point I wouldn't count on it given the fact they are charging fees with what appears to be no or very few buyers or sellers.

As stated by another, auction sites open up all the time, you can buy them on eBay for just a free hundred bucks each but I don't think they have much value unless the owner has thousands and thousands of dollars they are willing to spend to promote the listings on their sites to real search engines so that there is some value to listing on their site because the site would be physically pulling in buyers.

But you will need more than just thousands of dollars. You will need to convince buyers that it is worth their time to list even though tey will not get sales at first. Just do it to build a nice seelction sof goods and auctions. Thisis hard to do because you have to convince the sellers that you are not going to leave them hi and dry because you don;t have enough working capital and a terrible marketing and management team.

Then, if you are successful at that, you need to convince buyers to bid and to follow through. you need to ive them a sense of security and integrity.

All in all, you will find that it isn't thousands, but rather hundreds of thousands or even millions of dollars you will need to be even remotly able to enter in the auction site market successfully at this point.

I think the absolute best way to get into this market is the same with any other saturated market. Focus on a niche. Don't cater to everyone. Cater to only a few. Liek an auctions site for jewelry or art or whatever is profitable enough to justify having a whole auction site devoted to it. tghe auction market is not satureated (per se) but it has been largelly sold out to ebay and it is too tough to compete with the, . Just ask Amazon or Yahoo. Amazon auctions are such a joke. they used to be profitable but they neglected them after they decided it was not a good route to take. I don't even know why they even bother to keep the auction section running anymore.

To back up my claim that these auction websites are a dime a dozen, you can look at any of these eBay auctions which by the way I won't make any statement for or against as I have no clue about the owners.

It costs so little to buy these. Why waste your time listing on these unknown auction sites. Do you really think someone who buys a turnkey auction site for $55 is going to spend the money it takes to really promote it? I don't think so.

In general, I wouldn't waste my time on any non-established auction site.

I have listings on Ioffer.com and Sell.com - I have made no sales on I offer, but I do make an occasional sale on sell.com - I have made a few sales on Yahoo but none of those compare to Ebay, I have stopped looking for an alternative auction site and concentrated on building my own site and trying to market it. I think my money will be better spent there than wasting money on these other auction sitesl
