We recently sent an order of beauty products to a customer in Canada (from the US). I think it was on the customs form that we were required to declare the contents, and a few of the items were bottles of purfume.

Time goes by, and we get word from our customer that when they opened their package it contained a note that said that customs had destroyed the perfume.

Anybody experience this before or know anything about this?

lol I agree with creepyjon that is the only way I can see them destroying it unless there is some sort of law against importing perfume into canada :?

If you sent it via USPS it's probably gone. It's unlawful to ship anything flammable through USPS now, so they may have done it to enforce their new laws. That's all I can think of under the circumstances.

The perfume was by The Thymes, and yep, it was shipped via USPS, but the USPS didn't destroy it, Canadian customs did.

I'm sure there is a law, otherwise they wouldn't be destroying it and leaving a note in it's place.

    Thanks for the feedback.

I have found that some canadian postal workers like to play hockey, football, and baseball with packages on their breaks. Sometimes they seem to run into overtime and play all three games at once! If your shipping to Canada... you must package any goods with great care. GAMEEEEE OONNNNNNN!

As someone in the perfume business, I can tell you that customs in Canada will in fact destroy perfume not shipped in accordance with all regulations, and shipping them via air mail is not allowed. In the future use UPS or Fedex and declare what is in the package, UPS or Fed-ex will help you with the proper packaging and paperwork.
