The only other thing i can think of that has not yet been mentioned is keywords. Keywords are very very important. Think of the words that a person looking for your product will use to find you in the search engines. Make sure those words are used plentifully in context. As for the reciprocal links, i understand where you are coming from. After all, who wants to link to their competitors.
