Well, I still don't believe that you are not the owner. I have contacted customer support at Maxami Wholesale and my reply was from Sejal Clayton, which is very close to what your user name is. Gee, what a coincidence.

I think you have it wrong. Unlike YOU, I have nothing to hide. I am completely honest. I buy from dvd cheap source and I resell their dvds for a good profit. And no, they don't give you a box of "fillers" like I have tried to explain to you before. All the titles are good, they are much better than "yours" will ever be. And their prices beat yours any day. Why would anyone buy from you and spend $9.00-$13.00 for new releases when they can go to dvd cheap source and buy them for $4.50?

ok, I will be honest. I am a relative and a close one at that. It is not my business but I do purchase from them to sell at a retail business that i own.

Unlike you, I have nothing to hide and neither do they. Now if you could just be honest and tell everyone that you own DVD Cheap Source, then perhaps you too could increase profits....or maybe not since you/they use fillers to meet costs and make profits...and use Maxami's dvd pictures from their lots so you/they can sell their products.

My previous message does not concern those who are trying to guess who I am. It concern serious buyers, who want reliability and a good price for quality New Release US Region 1 Originals, and NOT a box of fillers.

So, have I answered your question? Yes, I am the CLOSE relative of the owners, not the owner. And NO, I am not really trying to SELL dvds but I am informing others who are interested in finding a reliable supplier, perhaps Tristar.

Please do not twist my words and imply that of which you do not know.

It's amazing of how much information you know about Maxami Wholesale and how often you come here to promote them. It's no secret to me that you are the owner of Maxami Wholesale. The owner's name is Sejal Clayton, which very closely resembles your user name. It's better to be honest about it and also you should be advertising in the "for sale"section of this forum and not here.

Also try Maxami Wholesale Distribution. They only sell new US Region 1 originals. I don't know whether they sell 250 of one title but they are pretty good at trying to get a variety of new release titles. And if can establish a rapport with them they will cater to you and sell you whatever you want.

I have contacted Ingram and Tristar and both can get whatever movies that you want from the studios but yes, we are looking at only 30% off MSRP. On the low end, new releases for $14/piece and still we have to pay the shipping. On the flip, atleast you are able to get whatever titles you want but they won't sell to you unless you are licensed.

The last I heard from Maxami, they were talking to Tristar to see what they could do in terms of pricing since they are a licensed business. I think like all of us that are trying to get a good deal for our customers, they are stuck because tristar is asking for a quantity of 500 of one title before they issue any price breaks. I don' think Maxami is able to move that many of one title unless there are more of us that are willing to pitch in and help them out. If you are interested, you should contact them.

Finally, the last word that I heard was that Tristar will purchase prestreet from the other studios, have them sent to their central location and then to the business making the order. They expect the business to have them by street date but the next on the list will either get it 1 week after. Tristar does not make any gaurantees, nor does Ingram. And of course, tristar needs payment and order upfront, so if this is a venture that you want to get into, be prepared to open your wallet.
I linked to exactly the information you are looking for. It explains exactly what all the different DVD sizes are. Without getting into how much each DVD holds, DVD-5 is a single layered DVD and DVD-9 is a dual layered DVD.

Really the only way for the average person to make any profit on DVD's is to buy closeouts and old releases. Any new release will cost you, as said, $18 give or take a couple dollars. Walmarts and the like buy in HUGE quantities to get the price down to the common $14.99 new release price. They make next to no profit on those DVD sales to boot and are mainly used to get people into the store to buy other things.

I don't know of any legit company that release their DVDs in this fashion. Also if you do buy any DVDs in bulk, stay away from certain Asian countries, as it's way to risky to even tell if they are legit or not. (Except Japan and more currently Korea [not to say they are bootleg free]) Japan however has their DVD prices set WAY higher then what people in US, UK, Canada are used to spending.

I'm glad to hear that you won't be selling bootlegs as it is flat out wrong. The dvds that are imported from the Phillipines may be Region 1, but they are not legit and they are illegal. Either way you look at it, they are bootlegs. If you really want to sell legit dvds legally, go where I go.
OK, ENOUGH

Inot trying to import/sell bootlegs. I'm not trying to rip people off. Your moral debate is hijacking my topic. I simply said i know other sellers who say they sell legit dvds imported from the Phillipines, and they are Region1 dvds. They come on cakeracks with no cases or inserts, and the sellers have to buy the cases seperately and print their own inserts. In no way did i imply that i want to sell bootlegs. I am simply asking if anyone on here browsing the forums wholesales dvds that are legitimate. I'm just starting out and don't really have any contacts other than what i have found online and most websites sell bootlegs and claim it's wholesale. I am looking for anyone who wholesales real dvds for resale or who knows how i can directly contact manufacturers to buy wholesale in bulk quantities.

That's one circumstance where importing another Regions DVD can be considered "wrong", but certainly not illegal by any means. Disney may try and go after businesses selling such DVDs if they have the US rights to release the movie, but any legal ground to do so? No not at all. If this was the case then importing anything wouldn't happen and Amazon.com and it's counterparts wouldn't send anything overseas.

Just because the dvds are a different region does not mean they are bootlegs. DVDs that are imported from another country, like Asia, are bootlegs and are considered illegal to sell in the USA. Many of these types of dvds will say "DVD 9" and/or have a gold layer. Some may even have a scratch across the dvd that indicates that it is a bootleg.

Selling bootlegs IS flat out wrong. If the dvd does not come from the manufacturer factory sealed and it is sold without the case and/or cover art, it is not a legit dvd. There are many, many websites out there that sell bootlegs. Don't be fooled. The pictures may look like something you would find in a U.S. store, but it's not. They will try and fool you by saying that the dvd will not be shipped in a case because the shipping cost would be too high. In reality, the dvd is 100% bootleg, not at all legit, and highly illegal in this country.

Taken from http://www.dvddemystified.com:

Motion picture studios want to control the home release of movies in different countries because theater releases aren't simultaneous (a movie may come out on video in the U.S. when it's just hitting screens in Europe). Also, studios sell distribution rights to different foreign distributors and would like to guarantee an exclusive market. Therefore they required that the DVD standard include codes to prevent playback of certain discs in certain geographical regions. Each player is given a code for the region in which it's sold. The player will refuse to play discs that are not coded for its region. This means that a disc bought in one country may not play on a player bought in another country. Some people believe that region codes are an illegal restraint of trade, but no legal cases have established this.

Regional codes are entirely optional for the maker of a disc. Discs without region locks will play on any player in any country. It's not an encryption system, it's just one byte of information on the disc that the player checks. Some studios originally announced that only their new releases would have regional codes, but so far almost all Hollywood releases play in only one region. Region codes are a permanent part of the disc, they won't "unlock" after a period of time. Region codes don't apply to DVD-Audio, DVD-ROM, or recordable DVD (see below for more detail).

There is ton of information on the DVD format on that website. Amazon.com is actually starting to sell Region Free players on it's US based site.[/url]

Do you have anyway to back up your statement that it's illegal to sell other Region DVDs in the US market?

Just to list a couple reputable sites that sell DVDs from Regions other then 1 and are based in the US:

http://www.yesasia.com
http://www.HKflix.com

Not to mention sites that sometimes stock other Region DVDs like http://www.amazon.com, http://www.circuitcity.com etc..

It's perfectly legal to sell legit Region 2 and up DVDs in the US. You aren't supposed to play them on a Region 1 player, as they are illegal to modify. Get right down to the nitty gritty you are supposed to buy a Region 2 or whatever region you want to watch DVD player. In this day and age you can go to your local K-mart, Target, Walmart and buy a DVD player that can easily be made Region free.
I think your wording is a bit off in your statement. If they want to sell imported DVDs there isn't anything wrong with that. As long as the imported DVDs are legit. Usually legit imported DVDs have a Region coding. (Japan R2, Korea R3, UK Region 2, Australia R4 etc) Even some legit DVDs are Region Free, but it's very hard to tell which ones are. Of course most Region Free DVDs on ebay are bootlegs, especially if they are US made movies.

This is the reason for this thread, so i can educate myself on this subjet before i get into trouble.

They're importing bootlegs. These bootlegs are sold for under $2/each in China (retail). And yes, the only way to get legit DVDs to buy factory sealed (not sure about adult DVDs though, that's a different story).
