This often depends on a number of things. First is what is the normal practice in the particular industry? Some types of businesses almost always use company reps, other lines are almost exclusively manufacturers reps and independent agents. Another consideration is territory. Do you want to sell nationally, regionally, state-wide or just in a local area? There are just too many factors to consider to give an easy answer. Of course, one of the major concerns is will the product ever produce enough income to give a salesperson a decent income, regardless of how they are hired? Or, will it be necessary to use manufacturers reps, simply because as a single line there is not enough potential for a full time rep, either company or independent.
