Buy from abroad, escape from tax Reply

I'm running auctions at Amazon.com and buy DVD from CHINA. Right now, I want to import big quantity of movies as stock. The problem is I don't want to pay the TAX. Anyone could advise what's the max quantities I can import without pay tax.

Generally one case or less of any product can be considered a sample order. More than that and you're going to pay taxes.

Be careful, do not do anything illegal to save a few bucks. If you cut LEGAL corners to help your business grow, what business do you really have? It will catch up to you.

A LEGAL way to help with the taxes is to talk to your supplier about how they invoice the products. Some companies will make the invoice simple which can save you money. "Small Plastic Car" will cost you less than "Small R/C Car with Controller and Recharagable Lith-Ion Battery", etc. It is NOT just based on cost.

Good luck!

Very strange! How does that work?

It works because the itemized invoice only contains one tabable import. When you import an item; each component can be taxed. For example; when importing watches, one company sent me an itemized invoice with each watch component.

1000 PCS ST. Silver Adjustable Wristband
1000 PCS Quartz Mech.
1000 PCS Man Body Face

I was taxed on each component. And, some goods higher than others.

Same when ordering RC cars. I was taxed on the LI Battery, RC Controller Module, and Plastic Car Body. Another supplier simply invoiced the "Plastic Toy Car" and the taxes were much lower.
